There can be many different reasons throughout the submission process that a user may need to fail a task, from incorrect content to receiving a document late. Although failing a task in an unplanned activity, ViewPoint is intelligent enough to send a previous task back to a user’s inbox for re-work.
In order to fail a task, start the task to perform. Click the Fail task button (looks like a red rewind symbol). Provide a reason for failure and a description of the reason. After failing the workflow will either turn back to a previous task (and will assign it to the user who last performed it) or will “cycle” the same task to be performed again. This cycling fail mechanism is especially useful for tracking changes in assumptions, such as when a Receive task misses it’s assumed due date. Capabilities
All users on a specific project team have their own capabilities, which allow that user to complete certain tasks. Capabilities can be thought of as skill sets to perform certain work, or roles on a project. Capabilities allow tasks to be automatically assigned to a user with the appropriate skill set. Assigning the capabilities is another essential part of the submission planning process published document.

The greatest benefit to assigning a capability, it that it allows tasks to be automatically assigned to a user with the appropriate skill set. Assigning the capabilities is another essential part of the submission planning process published document.
Why would I want to Fail a task? How would I do it?
